[NRVR-Members] Eggtimer Build Party Sign Up

Yeah.. a bench magnifier lamp is barely adequate.. (not sure about the EggTimer component scale)..

Using the Harbor Freight headband can be a little awkward, but works really great for the up close stuff and is by far the cheapest way to do it:

Especially if, like Jordan, you hack yours up with cool LED light bands:

But yeah.. I also have a "video microscope station" I've pieced together for around $100 using a solid metal USB microscope and a RaspberryPi + cheap hand-me-down dell Monitor:

Though now days China MAKES a complete USB microscope WITH mini display for cheaper than what I can build mine:

If I had it to do again.. I would probably just buy one of those.. they look pretty sweet (and are more portable than my luggable station).

But if you don't do much soldering like this.. then I recommend the Harbor Freight magnifier for $5 and a bright light source:

I actually had more issues with the RF board. I did mine with a magnifier headband - though mine has two added diopters, and the middle one was best for fine work. I think Tweeks recently got a digital microscope.

I tried to solder the GPS unit on the mini transmitter. Spent 2 hours with various magnification options but couldn’t get a single pad soldered though I was able to bridge several pads.

I have lighted magnifier headband, table top, and specs but they were either not enough magnification or too much. What are you folks using/recommending for this?
