[NRVR-Members] Fwd: [TRA] [Prefects] Aerotech 54mm DMS Recall Notice

More info - apparently there was a 'Part 2' of the description that Alan didn't send out (as per the vendor, who got back to me within 10 minutes of me emailing him! I'm telling you, if you fly Aerotech stuff, BuyRocketMotors.com is a good vendor.)

Anyway, there apparently is a good batch and a bad batch from that lot. Those with a casing wind angle of 75 degrees are bad. Those with a casing wind angle of 55 degrees are good.
Here are links to 2 pics (one w/ camera flash, one w/o) - it definitely appears to me that the wind angle on my motor is the 55 degree wind. I'd welcome a second opinion, though. (4th, actually - I had my son, with his younger eyes, confirm, and I've emailed the vendor, though I haven't heard back from him on his opinion on the wind angle yet.)

PS, sorry for the duplicate message (if you get 2) - the first was rejected due to size, as I'd attached the photos directly to the message.

 Ahhh that really stinks.
Who did you buy the motor from?

Well, that's inconvenient - that's the motor (same motor, same lot number) that I was going to use for my L2 next weekend. :-/
Thanks for passing the info along, Bob!

Karl Baumann, from RCS RMC, Inc. [Aerotech] has issued a recall notice for 2 54mm DMS motors, the J450DM (lot number 092818 only) and the K535W (lot numbers 092418 and 101718 only). There is a problem with a batch of casing material with an incorrect wind angle. All other batches of these motors have been performing nominally. Please pay close attention to any launch at your club in the future that involves these two motors, and make sure that the flyers know the lot number of their motors and that one of the 3 recalled lots is not installed in their rockets. All suppliers will either replace or refund for recalled motors.
